Americas Insurance Company (AIC) was formed in 1973. Today, it is a property and casualty insurance company licensed to write insurance in 26 states and the District of Columbia. In 2008, AIC began writing homeowners insurance in response to a need in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. In 2011, AIC was acquired by Assure Holding Corporation, a privately held company, which specializes in personal lines insurance products. The new management team’s strategy is to expand AIC’s operations throughout AIC’s geographic footprint by partnering with seasoned managing general agents. As a fronting carrier, AIC will retain no more than 10 percent of the risk written in any one program, relying heavily on reinsurance relationships.
